About Haven Scent

Hi, I’m Anne Zacharias, founder of Haven Scent. The company was inspired by an all-natural cleaner with a scent so incredible, it actually made me excited to clean. (And that’s no small feat—I’m extremely particular about fragrances and steer clear of fragrance oils and perfumes, which always give me headaches.) Attempting to create my own version of this all-natural cleaning product was a natural fit, as my husband and I have an invention company, and I’m no stranger to turning ideas into reality.

When I realized shipping premixed cleaners was costly due to their weight, I set out to create a concentrate that solved two key problems. First, the lighter 2-oz concentrate significantly reduces shipping costs compared to a 16-oz bottle. Second, it addresses the reuse and recycle issue—our 2-oz bottles are 100% recyclable, and when paired with reusable spray bottles, they greatly enhance the eco-friendliness of Haven Scent products.

With no chemistry background, I dove into experimenting, armed with online recipes, a notebook, and my signature purple pen. My “lab” consisted of cleaning spaghetti sauce off a glass tabletop. After countless tests, I perfected a formula that left that table sparkling and streak-free. Next came the fun part: fragrance. I explored essential oils, blending my favorite scents into four signature aromatic combinations.

The response was incredible - friends and family loved the cleaners and kept asking for more. That’s when I knew I had something special.

When it came to naming the business, Haven Scent came to me during one of my daily walks in the woods with one of our dogs. Though my attorney warned it might be tough to trademark, I felt the name was truly heaven sent. Nine months later, the trademark came through, and Haven Scent became official.

Haven Scent’s eco-conscious concentrates are designed to clean powerfully, smell amazing, and prioritize health and safety for people, pets, and the planet. I’m especially excited about how they benefit cleaning professionals:

I’m proud to be born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and I bleed black and gold. When I’m not working, I love spending time with my husband, two children, and five rescue dogs, walking in the woods (my daily meditation), or relaxing at the beach. I’m hooked on Wordle, enjoy Pilates, skiing and paddle tennis, and live by the mantra: “If it’s not a ‘Hell yes!’ it’s a ‘No.’”
